Glimpses

 by Rod Tucker in Thoughts

When I, Rod, was a child my dad was diagnosed with Hepatitis C.
We prayed for him.
He went to the doctor.
It was gone.
I have a friend who had a slipped disc in his back.
We prayed for his back.
His back was fine.
Maybe this was all God’s Kingdom being loosed on earth.
I have also prayed for people to be healed and they were not. I remember an entire auditorium asking God to heal a man of leukemia.
The man died.
I am not going to pretend to know exactly why the man’s leukemia did not go away. All I know is that I live on earth and God wants to inject His Kingdom into this one. And He wants to give me glimpses of His Kingdom now so that I can tell other people about it.
Pretty neat.
Jesus tells us in Matthew 6:10 to pray, “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”
What is awesome about this to me is that millions of people historically have been praying this throughout the years. Every time the Lord’s Prayer is or has been uttered people have agreed with what Jesus commanded.
Even if they did not understand what they were praying, and even if I don’t understand, we have been calling God’s Kingdom to earth for years. We have been asking for Kingdom things and happenings to be loosed in our very existence.
I’m thankful for the glimpses we get today.
